The city of Pskov - one of the oldest Russian cities (first mentioned in chronicles in 903 AD) lies on the famous ancient trade way "From the Vagaries to the Greeks" in the border region of Ancient Russia and was engaged in trade with Western Europe. It's known to be one of the most fortified cities of Russia. Pskov has an abundance of Russian architectural monuments and paintings. The most famous of them are - the Mirozshsky monastery (the 12-th century frescoes) which is listed in the UNESCO world heritage list, the Trinity Cathedral (the 12-th-17-th century), ancient fortress in Stary Izborsk (the 14-th century) in Pechory, Pskov Kremlin , Pechory monastery (the only cave monastery in Russia originally located in the caves), one of the oldest and richest functioning monasteries in Russia.

Pskov region is comparable with Russian Federation mountain areas by it's environmental purity; there are about a thousand protected nature sites in the region - ancient estate parks, virgin forests areas, hunting reserves and so on. It's the lake region including two biggest lakes in Europe Lake Peipus and Pskov Lake, varying and plentiful vegetation of forests, swamp and water systems; rich lands where berries and mushrooms, medical herbs grow. You can also make a trip to Malskaya valley - a national nature reserve where you can find unique flora and numerous lakes full of fish, unfreezing Slovenskije springs with crystal clear water, that is said to be magic.
